Are any of you fed up of being limited to using 10x magnification on the UZO and binos because I am. I posted a question last night about whether it is possible to have multiple magnifications for these views like the periscopes or the deck gun sight on the normal forum. I just need a hint as to which files contain this information and I may be able to do it myself. I'm not sure however if its already been done. I'm not bothered about realism I just need to know if its possible and if it is how do we do it.

Thank you very much I suspected it wasn't a novel idea due to gwx tweaking it from 6x to 10x but I thought maybe no one had thought of variable zoom for the binos. I'm going to see if I can work it out now.

That's all working great: binos 5x - 10x, uzo ditto, attack scope 1x - 2x - 5x - 10x, obs scope ditto. The optics even display the correct zoom level. Only issue I have is with the binos when I try to zoom out fro 10x to 5x it just goes straight to bridge view but its just a niggle. The possibilities are endless. I use sh3ditor to add more zoom levels and I have even had the binos at 20x zoom but I felt it was a bit much and almost cheating. Thank you for your help with the PDF I really appreciate it. By the way if you know how to get rid of my niggle let me know.

Hi,
there's no "niggle". The combination of <CTRL><M.Wheel> works in both directions - zoom in AND zoom out. If you want to zoom out (periscopes or bino) just press <CTRL> AND turn <M.Wheel> backwards. <M.Wheel> foreward will switch from bridge view to binocular view and <M.Wheel> backward will switch from binocular view to bridge view. That's all. Greetings rowi58 |

Lightyear ist a linear measure, not a measure for time.
![]() It's the distance that light travels in a vacuum in one year. Excuse me, in case you ment it ironically.

On the other hand, the binoculars and UZO (which is a pair of binoculars locked into a frame with bearing marks underneath) were x7 power, and had no zoom capability whatever. The periscopes could zoom from 1.5x to 6x, and that was it.

I just fancied having a play with it. We'll pretend that I was such a good kaleun that zeiss gave me some experimental optics to try out. We love simulators but sometimes we have to bend the rules of realism a little to get what we want from the software
