Alles klar, Männer?
After a long absence from these forums and Silent Hunter 3 in general I have made my return and want to start a new career in the 1st Flottilla with a good ol' "Einbaum", the IIa. The last days I have read hundreds of threads in this forum to come up with the best possible MOD-setup. Now I've come as far as the setup for my boat. Here starts the confusion as I'm not really sure how the .dat-files work. Let's say I want to use the (great) Waterstream and Exhaust mod together with a new skin for my IIa. Both mods contain the NSS_Uboat2A.dat. Would I lose any functionality of the Waterstream mod if I added a new skin via JSGME? Another question that I have is about the interior. I have found several mods changing the interior of a IIa (Torpedoroom, Interior Lighting, Postalbyte's interior mod etc.) all of these have the NSS_Uboat2_CR.dat in common. So which of these should I use? I'm sorry if these questions have been asked before, but I tried to search for an answer prior to adressing you here. I would be glad if some helpful Kaleun could point me to some FAQs concerning this or if someone could simply give me any advice on the best IIa-combination of mods. Thanks in advance! BTW: WTF has happened to SH3 since my last visit (2009)? This community is alive as ever and mods (including an unbelievable inofficial 1.6b of sh3.exe). This is ridiculous! ![]() ![]() ![]()

Regarding the interior.
I was happy to use just the Torpedoraum Typ II 1.0 followed by the IIa Tuneup mod. Both of which you have already found. I removed the cam and config files from Torpedoraum Typ II 1.0 mod to prevent conflict with the GUI I was using as well as eliminating some camera out of sector errors. Hopefully with your final mod soup you may not need to. |

Thanks for the input! I played around a little bit more and I am now quite pleased with the results even if the torpedo room can't be compared to the VII's FM new interior qualitywise. Anyway, thanks again! I'm going to leave Kiel now and start the war for real - with 5 torpedoes that is!
