Greetings all:
I am a newly minted skipper in Silent Hunter IV. I discovered this game as the result of GOG.com releasing Silent Service II, and old favorite of mine. After playing SSII for a bit, I realized I wanted to see if I could find a modern equivalent to that great old game from Microprose. After a brief search I discovered the Silent Hunter series, and while not entirely modern, it's certainly a considerable step up from the much older SSII (and more importantly my computer can run it with no trouble!) It's great to have found this spiritual albeit indirect descendent of Silent Service II. TG626 is a left over from my Flight Sim days, it was my Pilot ID for the virtual airline I joined. It was there that I learned the value of joining a group such as this to learn the ropes and get the insider info on the various idiosyncrasies that seem to be the mainstay of all simulators. These days I've hung up my pilots cap, at least for the time being, and I am greatly enjoying a return to older obsessions, namely sub driving and railroad sims. I look forward to learning, and hopefully contributing to this community in the future. T. E. Thompson, Lieutenant Commander Commanding Officer, U.S.S. Pollack (SS-180) |
