It's been written about before but the known SH4 switching gun position/ losing crew bug, as I understand it, was supposed to be fixed in TMO 2.5 by not allowing the player a choice. Depending on what class of sub you were in, you were stuck w/ the existing fwd/aft posit.
What happened to me last night in my TAMBOR, TROUT, was we got a refit at the end of patrol and wham, no gun crew slots. It wasn't that I picked to switch. After the refit screen, the label on the gun crew box read Aft Gun Crew, but the slots were gone and there were no slots for a fwd gun crew which is where the refit located a 3"/50. Prior to refit I had a 5"/51 aft; that's gone, replaced by a 20mm. We also lost all of our electronics upgrades which had to be repurchased. I read a thread whereby you can do some manipulation in the pre-refit save and not have the refit occur whereby you lose the cut down tower. However, I want the cut down tower. Is there a way of going into the save's ActiveUserPlayerUnit file and switching the location of the post refit gun to aft? Will it then pick up the old crew slots? I could just put up w/ it until I get offered a better boat, but the original TROUT was lost in APR '44 and I was hoping to get this one thru the war. Appreciate any assistance.
