Default I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SHIII/GWX

I am monitoring the subsim forum and on patrol with GWX almost every day.

While doing so I have noticed that new and old forum members are asking for help with gameplay problems they are having. Our forum members do a great job at trying to help with these request. Some requests may not be fully answered because they are posted all over the forum. I have also noted that when a request for help is made the same problem has come up and been answered in several threads.

If problems and answers could be centralized to one thread it would help it keeping the help threads to a minimum. It would also quicken the time in getting the problem.

IT WOULD BE NICE IF THIS THREAD COULD BE CONSIDERED FOR A STICKY SO THAT IT IS EASY TO FIND.

Default PROBLEM WITH COMMANDER

I have just reloaded GWX and mods into Windows 7. Everythingw ent fine with no mod conflicts. I went on patrol and returned to base. I saved the patrol and exited the game.

I started SHIII Commander with the GWX patch. It looked good but I was missing the roll back and launch button at the bottom.

Any ideas

We have a thread for that already, and it is already stickied and has been for years.

People start new threads to ask questions because they either don't know or don't care about it or because they think their questions will get lost in a dedicated sticky thread.

Sailor Stev & Jimbuna,

With respect. The thread you referred to is over 7 years and was quite useful to me when I first started playing SHIII with a slow computer and Windows 2000.

I was aware of that post and reviewed it prior to posting my thread I found many dead links and outdated content. With new tech, and faster computers new questions are being asked. In addition our mods are better and more complex which some may need help. I also found that most questions and answers had to do with game play and not about getting a mod or program to work.

I am not knocking the thread because I was a user of it for game play. for tech. and why does this not work I used the forum and old timers like you, jimbuna, Neal & Bigboy.

Just today there were several requests for help. Rather then searching the forum for those needing help I would have liked going to one thread and helping all I coulg

Best reguards old timers,
Ken

We have also had several threads in the past which were dedicated to mods and questions about them. What always happens is that people don't read them and continue to ask questions on their own. Then the links get broken because the modders go on to other things. The the thread gets unstickied because people aren't using it.

What I'm trying to say is that I've seen this all before, and it has failed every time. If you create a new thread dedicated to SH3 mods it will end up exactly like the thread we just talked about - long, bloated, people unable to find things, people asking the same questions over because they don't want to search the entire thread to see if their question has already been asked, and so on. It has been tried more than once, and it has failed more than once.

Make your thread. If it works this time it won't need to be stickied. If it doesn't then making it a sticky won't help.

You are probable right but I am living in the past when 5-6 years ago the forum was more helpful. Getting old is a bitch just like the North Atlantic.

Cheers,
Ken

As a newcomer to these forums, I guess I should plead guilty to starting lots of new threads to ask for help. Nevertheless, we should remember the power of Google and similar search engines. I found this forum through Google and although I don't quite know how or why search engines rank their search results, it would appear that the most recently started threads tend to come first. By the way I still find that Google is the best way to look for answers to my questions (usually better than the forum search facility) so when I ask a question on a forum it is because I cannot find the answer with Google.

Just as it was in the North Atlantic, getting old is actually a privilege not granted to everyone. There's only one alternative I know of, and getting old is better!
