I'm currently working on a map (well, chart if we want to be proper...) mod and just noticed something.
The black and white border marks that denote lines of latitude (and longitude, but I'm not interested in these at the moment) seem to be the wrong size. They are apparently 120km - when they should be 60 nautical miles - or 111.1km. Now, I'm only assuming that in this case they denote latitude but I can't see what else they would be measuring at 120km. I suspected they were for decoration but they do scale when zooming... However, if they are lat marks, is there a particular reason they are 120km? I know SH3 doesn't use Mercator projection in the slightest...

Thanks Vanjast, I thought you would have an answer. Hmm, I'll have a play around with it and see what I can get to work...
