Certain mods I require
Hey everyone, a couple questions.
While on my recent patrol, I encountered a few problems that I know mods can fix, but I don't know what mods they are. What happened was I go into the bay of Grimsby after sinking 2 destroyers patrolling the entrance. I sailed around the bay sinking another destroyer that was also patrolling. I then set up the bow of my submarine facing a large tanker, I fired one torpedo and then repeated that process 4 more times (2 more tankers and 2 supplies). Knowing that with a big hole right on the waterline and fire on the deck the ships would sink soon, I time advanced almost an entire day and there had been no progress on the ships sinking. I then recalled J2 (A youtuber) talking about how the stock game does not have effects that damage the ship over time. Like the flooding in the ship and the fire on the deck. In that same video he discussed that there is a mod he uses that implements that effect so you don't have to keep on hitting the ship until you get the message that it sank. What is the mod that does this? It would greatly improve me gameplay, and help me sink more ships! __________________________________________________ __________ Another question. Is there a mod that makes the markers that show your planned path turn into lines so you know exactly where you are going? I recall seeing that in one of J2's videos as well, or is this an option in the game. With that mod / option it also displays a little icon so you know where your ships is without having to be using a scope of some sort. Thanks! |

Generally start with Fifi's mod list, oriented toward beginners, and work up according to your skills and the vagaries of your computer's ctd capacity. There is a mod for fire damage and greater eel damage as well; a PM to Gap will get those if you are not responded to here; AS to your attack upon poor Grimsby: Ignore all destroyers; they just soak up eels in a VII-A ; ignore all tankers until you've sunk all the Rawalpindis for max tonnage... take the anchored troopships directly up the stern or bow for greatest effect of eel... generally one apiece. then proceed to attack the tankers after dark at 1500+ meters with one eel and use the deck gun to finish off the crips. ( decks awash for nosey escort or return fire) Sneak out past the destroyers in the fog and dark. Replenish at Helgioland and good hunting. Remember you are after tonnage tonnage tonnage. No destroyers unless put to it defensively. Make sure your torpedo guy gets the promotion points to 'Preheat the eels for bigger bang",it really helps till u get those two mods!! Do your own gunnery at decks awash--SHIFT-U returns u to the con w/o having to use the ladder for fast (no crash dives-too shallow) submerging. Know your depth at all times in the Grimsby estuary; Save the lone rear eel on the type VII A for emergencies only...and don't have any! Alzeit gute Fahrt und Fette Beute Kaleun

Thank you for suggestions on the pack and those mods, I will try and find them.
Also when I attacked Grimsby there were no passenger liners, only merchant ships (Tankers and supplies) The only 5 ships that I was able to put torpedos in were all Tankers and supply transports so I just went after them. Thank you also for your tips on how to attack harbours, what to avoid, what to do and what not to do. I will take that into consideration on my next patrol. But can you possibly answer my seconds question? I really want to know of that as it would greatly improve my gameplay. |

I'm not sure I understand your second question properly so I did not respond. On either the map or TAC screen there should be a icon for all vsssels unless you have selected otherwise in your options before starting the career; on the map I key on the Uboat icon and draw the course which has 'waypoints which will be followed until you redraw an new course...but I play unmodified at full realism. Cannot believe no Rawi's at Grimsby...bad timing!

Okay here is an example.
Pause there and look at the map, see how there are arrows point as to where he is going to go, and see how at the begining of the path it shows a little grey circle that represents your submarine? I want that. |

the little grey circle is the area of visibility of the enemy or target vessel; stay out of that circle and u are not seen by your quarry. On night or fog the circle is small and if at anchor, no circle at all. As the Little grey circle is very small in your post example, visibility for your enemy is very poor. The uboat has no grey zone as u are doing the looking. The circle will expand or contract according to circumstances, including the enemies' alertness once you 'wake him up' with shellfire or missed eel. Hope I helped some.
