Fast and the furious actor dead
http://tbo.com/events/publicist-fast...rash-20131130/ I'm not going to go down the road to far in judging the guy, sounds like he was a pretty stand up dude. but if those are photos of his porsche, he wasnt running to the supermarket at 45 mph. He was in the middle of making another fast and the furious movie, there were others aboard the car... i imagine some showboating was involved here i have always hated and flat out despised the fast and the furious movies, i always thought they were ridiculous and when those films first came out there was a noted uptick in street racing around here - specifically young impressionable folks driving cars purchased with daddy's money that they had absolutely no business driving in the first place. I imagine that sort of illegal street racing takes place wherever there are vehicles, fuel, and testosterone. Hell, i have been known in my younger days to launch off a green light a few times when i drove a trans am in my early 20's just to show up the kid in the mustang at the light next to me. in youth one rarely cosideres consequences... now that im older i do. Now that said i have never run down the main strip at 100+ Miles per hour, 70mph perhaps though - even if momentarily. but i have seen it done, faster even. Now i stop and think that i could have killed someone or myself... if not caused serious injury to people or personal property.

"Oh the irony" was my first thought when I found out.
Never saw the movies, but they looked quite ridiculous. The pictures of his car though...that's not a wreck...that's like...a car bomb explosion. It would take some skill to wreck it that bad. EDIT: Movie car chase/race scenes are always complete BS anyway.

for a moment i hoped he wasnt showboating... i thought maybe that he wrecked during filming a scene.
but that thought lasted half a second... most of those scenes are driven by stunt drivers in tightly choreographed routines or done almost entirely in CGI now... not like it used to be

@37 I notice a Ford Pinto what a wasted opportunity they could have had it get rear ended faking it explode into flames.
Weren't the chases in old films also fairly highly choreographed and driven by stunt/professional drivers? Rhetorical question. Not saying that I like the Fast and Furious flicks but the only real difference between older films and more modern ones would be the heavy use of CGI.(not just in car chases). If where to pick a bone with any show/film it would be the one on Discovery "Street Outlaws" where they drag race in and around Oklahoma City.It is a bad influence on so many levels first the illegal racing bit and then just the people on the show some seem to find paying for the racing and car work to more important than paying the bills. Fast and Furious is pretty stupid but so are all young men from the ages of 15 to 22(some just stay stupid longer) I have no problem admitting that I was a total dipstick in my teens early 20's any man who says other wise is a lying the level of stupidity can vary but it is there inside the heart of every young man. Also best car movie Vanishing Point(original version).Best short film C'était un rendez-vous Last edited by Stealhead; 12-01-13 at 02:17 AM. |

You don't destroy an engineering marvel like a Porsche to this level in legal speeds. You don't destroy my Suzuki to this level at 45mph.

According to the news stories below, it appears to be showboating by one of Walker's friends. Walker appears to have been the passenger. CNN reports: Walker was a passenger in a friend's 2005 Porsche Carrera GT and both were attending a charity event for his organization. The wreck took place about 3:30 p.m. (6:30 p.m. ET), about 300 yards from the office park where the event was held. The speed limit there is 45 mph. Up and down the road near the crash site were burned rubber and doughnut marks as though someone smoked their tires in figure 8 patterns. Last edited by Father Goose; 12-01-13 at 11:36 AM. |

Latest reports tag him as a passenger, not the driver

German news gives some details on his biography, he was a speed-junkey and not only in movies linked to fast cars and fast driving, but in private life as well.
Walker may not have driven himself, but his friend obviously was the same kind of guy. The car they drove in he inspected just short time before at a shop. He maybe planned to buy it, or just had bought it. Which may add inexperience with that car's characteristics to the obviously highspeed violation. I hate drunk drivers and speeders, for very personal and bitter reasons. If high speed is the cause of this accident then I am happy that these two bastards have removed themselves from public traffic forever, will never pose a threat to others anymore, and that they did withdraw from life's racetrack in a fashion where they did not pull others, innocents, down along with them. Sorry, I am absolutely unforgiving about speeders and drunk drivers. One such bastard killed my girl friend, when he got back his license just months (!) later, he caused another accident again with persons getting injured. The pregnant sister of my mother and her husband got killed by another such bastard when I was a kid. That driver also caused another terrible crash years alter after being allowed to drive again. If it needs death to make such people stopping to put other, innocent people in danger, then I welcome it. Stupid movies, btw, judging by what I managed to watch before the urge to change program became too irrestistable. Infantile.

Although it's harsh I'm with Skybird on this one. These people are a danger to everyone and I don't shed a tear for them.
