Hello All,
I have courageously embarked on a mission to finalize my mods list, and actually start playing some serious SH3. Of course, this means lots of compatibility work with Silent 3ditor, and winmerge. But I just can;t seem to get MaGui and FM New Interiors v2.1D to work in harmony. I've looked all around and haven't seen a compat mod for these two made yet, but just to double check, does such a thing exist? Perhaps for the Widescreen version of MaGui 3.4? If not, I'll keep trying to sort things out. Thanks!

U-48, have you encountered problems running these two mods together? I use FM_NewInterior v2.1D. While I don't regularly use the MaGUI mod, I have loaded and run it with my mod list without seeing any obvious problems. The only common files are Commands.cfg and Cameras.dat. Commands.cfg is easy to merge - in fact, IIRC, the only command unique to FM_NewInterior v2.1D is SHIFT-H/CTRL-H to open and close hatches. Cameras.dat is a different proposition. As a matter of course, I use the Cameras.dat from whatever optics mod I'm using, since the view through the optics is critical to fighting the boat effectively. I don't know what impact using the Cameras.dat from the MaGUI mod has on FM_NewInterior v2.1D, but it doesn't seem noticeable to me. So, I would just merge the Command.cfg files and load the MaGUI mod last.
You could go through the Cameras.cfg files and resolve any differences you find. That might not be too hard, as the optics settings are the only thing you want to preserve from the MaGUI mod, I think. But, of course, there is no easy-to-use method to merge .dat files. (That's why I punt and use the one I think is more important.) Please post how your project turns out. |

There are a few more commands that are unique to FM 2.1d than just shift+h, but they're minor things like follow sound contact etc. I've not been able to get v2.1 to work with the latest MaGUI in campaign, works fine in single missions and the academy.
I don't have anything that can read the camera files, but I believe that's where the problem is. |

I use HxD hex editor (freeware), allows you to compare 2 files.
It will allow you to compare 2 Cameras.dat files - you can use it in conjunction with S3D if you want a better understanding of what your changing, winmerge doesn't read the Camera.dat file very well, but is still useful to help point out differences. I'd compare each of the Camera.dat files, of FM 2.1d and MaGUI to the root GWX3 Camera.dat. Then you know what is different and how to change it. I noticed a mistake while looking in the FM 2.1d Camera.dat, there is a , in the data instead of a . - Don't know whether that could effect anything tho'. Why by thunder - I believe I've done it. Let me keep testing and an upload will be coming soon!
