Default The Sleepwalkers

Does anyone here know British historian Christopher Clark? And his book "The Sleepwalkers" about the eve of WWI? I read it mentioned in a report today, and read nothing but praise in reviews. Worth the hype? German and American Amazon readers give it five stars, British Amazonistas rate it 4 stars. I never cared much for WWI, it did not interest me, but this year I slowly felt some appetite growing to close that knowledge gap. I must admit that although they say the author is a famous expert for Prussian history, I cannot remember to ever have heard of him - if I did, I have forgotten it.

Nope, but it looks like an interesting read.

It does ring a bell, but I've never read it. Might be one to pick up coming up for the 100th anniversary.

I have just read Niall Ferguson's 'The pity of war'. One of the best on that theme i think, but will look for that Clark's one now, thanks.

I know a friend who has read it and rates it as better than average.

Only read Martin Gilbert's one not as good as his one on WW2.

Got my eye on Peter Hart's one when the price drops in my price range. Amazon rating has it at 15 five stars & 3 four stars, no rating on 1-3 yet.
