Default History of the boat you are assigned.

sure I am not the only one who researches the sub they are assigned when starting a new career. I have always enjoyed this as can often learn things might not otherwise learn concerning PTO subs in WW II. Since I lost my lost boat to surface runner in April 44.I started a new career in November 43 out of Pearl. USS Sand Lance. I usually look at the Wiki first, then read plenty of other sources. Here is the wiki, interesting career, esp the first patrol.16 hour depth charge attack? Assuming that is accurate, holy crap.

I used to, unfortunately I just get assigned the same 3 boats these days. Rather disappointing, I enjoyed reading about laid down & lauch dates, service history... *sigh*

USS Greenling (Gato Class) SS-213: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Greenling_(SS-213)

USS Skipjack (Salmon Class) SS-184: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Skipjack_(SS-184)

U.S.S. Drum - First Gato Class boat in service. She can still be seen, and toured at her home in Mobile Ala. - I can tell you that it is worth the time if you are ever in the area!
