Default Is this game worth buying?

I'm interested in buying SH5, but am turned off by all the reports of DRM nonsense, bugs, and massive system requirements. I am a veteran of SH2, 3, and 4, having logged hundreds of hours among all of them.

Is this game worth buying, or is it a waste of the $10.00 it is on Steam?

Yes but you need to mod it. But dont buy it on steam there you cant use the TDW Genric Patcher.

Never ever buy the steam version because you won't be able to use the Generic Patcher which is essential to play.

Is it worth.?

Yust read a bit through the mod section and decide on your own.

Lots of places on the web - reliable ones - where you can get SH5 for under $10. That's dinner for two at Mickey D's. Worth buying? At that price, you could use the disk for a coaster!

Is the game worth playing? That's a very different question, one you might get a lot of different answers to. Given the current state of development of SH5, the current state of development of SH3, and my personal preferences, I'd rather spend my gaming time playing SH3, with either GWX or NYGM. But many would disagree. And, in the future, that could all change. YMMV.

WELCOME ABOARD!

This question gets asked on average once every three to four months.

DRM was removed more than two years ago. You only have to be online long enough to register the game. You don't have to be online to play it. Bugs are worked out and gone thanks to hard-working and brillian modders. System requirements are a problem, but unless you're running a very old single-core 32-bit system like mine, you should be okay.

I bought mine on Amazon for $5. For that price you can easily afford to find out for yourself.

Thanks for all your replies. Aside from one poster, I noticed no comments with regard to Steam vs. disk.

Which is a better choice?

Disk. Hands down.

Best reason (but not the only one) is: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=181433

The patcher will NOT work with Steam version of game.

Thanks, I'm going to get it off of Amazon once I get settled with college and everything. I started playing the Silent Hunter series when I was 8 (SH2).

Totally worth it. At this point, the game has been modded to the point of enjoyment :-)

Get it through the Amazon link on the top right corner of this page, and subsim will get a small commission with no additional charge involved for you

For me it was a no brainer. I have enjoyed this series for years. I have to post to enable downloads so this is it. Buy the game. It offers something unique that no other series does.

I would argue that it's asked more often. But maybe I'm just being prejudging. hahahaha
