Default Mods and Gamestop App

I'm new to SH3 and was reading up on the patches and mods available for the game. I'm not a developer of any kind and was wondering if someone could explain the process of adding those patches and mods to my current game.

I purchased SH3 through Gamestop and downloaded through the Gamestop App, which I assume keeps track of the licensing, but will that get in the way of enhancing my version of the game with mods or patches?

Any advice from the old salts here is much appreciated. Thanks.
Syd

first off i don't think it will affect the using of mods second to activate/use mods you can use a utility called JSGME a quick search of the forums under the search downloads section then add JSGME to the install folder.

the liscensing should be no problem its just a way of verifying you own the game. i am unsure though if you would be able to take advantage of the hardcode fixes from Hsie though.

I'm fairly new too, but got set up quite quickly. I got my SH3 through Steam, and I'm guessing Gamestop is a similar kind of thing and I've had no problems with modding.
Install JSGME, then GWX 3.0, then SH3 Commander. After that it depends on what you want. I have got SH3 beautiful now, looking great and with around 20 mods that have upped the realism factor no end. If you'd like to try my own methos (as a shortcut to happiness) then I'll gladly post my list of mods (and the order I have then installed) and maybe that will save you a lot of the fiddling and tweaking I had to go through to get to where I am now. Good luck.
