SSD hard drive

Hi,

Planning to buy from long time an SSD drive, i will finally go for it in few weeks

I've choosen the Samsung SSD 840 500 Go, knowing and already having Samsung amazing quality products.
I'm quite sure it will be a good improvment to run SH5 on my rig, mainly loading times will drop probably half time, but maybe playability will be even smoother.

What do you think? Is it good choice?

Will post in time the differences noticed VS my old drive when i'll get it

It's great upgrade.

I have been SSD user now for two years, Makes windows 7 start in seconds and cut's loading times.

Go for it.

Is game itself a bit smoother?...meaning when teleporting or accessing scopes, must be instantaneous...or panning around externals views?

This is not a function of drive activity. This is a function of your motherboard/CPU/RAM/Video card. If they are 'fast' then everything is smoother. If you have low RAM (2-4GB) then SSD will play a small part (paging and swapping memory pages to/from virtual memory).

An SSD will drastically cut the loading times down. I have two OCZ Vertex 4's in a RAID 0 (SATAIII). It smokes

An SSD will decrease loading times but starting a game is still a b***h,
loading times after sinking your boat or a reload after messing up your torpedo solution is much faster.

For smooth teleporting, ... I suggest increasing your CPU clock: My PC runs on an Intel 2500K 3.3 GHz (stock),
after a few hours playing I changed the CPU clock to 3.8 GHz. The higher CPU speed eliminated 99% of in game stuttering.

Yes, i plan to do it...but i need a friend's help. I'm not computer good enough.
I own an I7 875K @ 2.93 Ghz, and K means i can boost it

I don't think with the SSD this SH5 simulator can become smoother, to reach that goal I am just about (next month) to upgrade from LGA775 core 2 duo E8500 to LGA2011 IB-E 4820K, and from ATI HD5870 to Nvidia GTX770

with 16Gb of 1600MHz RAM/DIMM

Going from Ati to Nvidia?....was almost thinking the inverse! (for me)...to avoid some SH5 glitches due to Nvidias....

Hi, I while ago I contacted Pintea (SH5 developer), this is his opinion about ATI Radeon or Nvidia selection to play SH5, I hope Pintea don't mind if I post his view about this ATI/Nvidia issue

I'm not ready to change graphic card anyway, but was kind of tired of the triangles glitches due to Nvidia, each time i look up the sky.

Then I suggest water cooling. Or find the short circuit in the power cables.
