Real navigation is a mod for NewUIs, wich makes you navigate on a map without any information...
-You don't see your sub
-you don't see any boats
-you don't see any contact line
-you can't draw automatic stock course line
-you have to draw your bearing and use compass tool
-you can ask navigator for your current position if good weather
-you can have your current position drawn on map if good weather
-you can have current position automaticaly every 2 hours (Trevally script)
-you have to calculate where you could be, and beware of coast!
-you have to determine if boat is ennemy or friendly
-you have to determine ennemy trajectory using hydro and clock
-you have to determine ennemy speed via hydrophone and clock
-you have to follow ennemy at distance when in sight
-you have to intercept ennemy best as possible!

Really awesome experience!...but need some time to play it...

Yes it's harcore but that turns a game into a simulation.

I serverd between 1989 and 1993 as Navigator in the Federal German Navy most of those 4 years as Navigationsmaat on the Minenkampfboot Klasse 343 "Passau".

From my experience from that time I'm really waiting to have a working sextant with the upcomming TDW UI 7.5. This will bring so much more realism to the sim.

You don't have to calculate your position at all if you don't want to . Just ask the navigator for a dead reckoning or a celestial fix . Its way more fun than the old waypoints system .

Real nav is anyway really cool.
And find boats can sometimes be quite easy:

Right straight on this medium cargo! lol

I wholeheartedly agree. It was a warning to the uninitiated. Also a reason to learn how to use the sextant if you do something reckless and have to save your career by navigating on your own.
