Default King of the High Wire

Quote:
Daredevil Nik Wallenda completed a historic high-wire walk over a section of the Grand Canyon on Sunday, greeted with wild cheers after finishing his journey over the yawning chasm on a 5-cm steel cable.
Wallenda, the self-described "King of the High Wire," walked 426.7 metres across the crimson-hued canyon with just the distant ribbon of the Little Colorado River beneath him. The event was broadcast live around the world

A great feat of balance

Oh, those Flying Wallendas. I've been reading about that family since I was little.

I don't understand why anyone would want to do this.

Just because they can. It must be an adrenaline rush to do it knowing that you could die if you make a mistake, and then feel amazing when you survive. On the other hand I think that you also have to have a little bit of madness to attempt it in the first place.

I see no reason for anyone to attempt this. Then again, I see a lot of people doing things that make no sense.

Does he do it with some kind of safety cable on his ankle?

Not a wire or a safety harness...his next stunt is a tightrope walk between the Empire State building and the Chrysler building in New York.

That would be one heck of a bungee jump if he did.

Several of the Wallenda family have had that same outcome. That's why they call it "death-defying" and they are known as "daredevils".

Must be in their DNA. Darwinism at work.
