I've played it on a laptop running win7 - There were no problems, but you need to install it in the root directory, not the programs folder. There are quite a few threads on here that go into more detail

Hi and thanks for reply.

Cannot remember Folder name, think it's something like i86, maybe wrong.

Most Games like Microsoft Flight Simulator and Train Simulator went in this Folder, not the Program folder.

This Computer came with Windows 7 originally, but took it out and installed WIN XP.

Many thanks

Paul.

I play on Win7. It runs great. You do need to put it in it's own directory for the mods to work. For some reason, they don't work if the game is in the "x86" directory. Also, go to the downloads section and download "large address aware." http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=search

this is NOT correct

ONLY with VISTA was it needed to make it install in other location then programs. all versions of windows since and before VISTA (as in XP) you just let it install normally into the programs directory.

its just old info that isn't understood well and keeps getting passed on even though it no longer applies

more then half of everyone at this sight uses win 7 and it is installed normally in the Program Files (x86)

you need to let the game install itself normally without redirecting it to any other location. if there is any issues with the game it is not related to where it is installed but with the mods you are using
