Default Change of base... continued...

A while ago I asked people about the sudden and unexpicable change of base in the Asiatic fleet from Fremantle to Pearl Harbor. Prior to this happening I had also been given command of a Tambor class, which isn't supposed to be available in the Asiatic fleet. I have had something similar happening again when playing the standard Pacific campaign out of Pearl Harbor. I started out with a Gar class and just finished my fourth patrol in october 42. When i returned home they offered me command of a new sub which I accepted. The sub they gave my is a Balao, which I thought wasn't supposed to be available until earliest 43'. There's that plus I start out in San Fransisco, which is also marked as my home base. It seems like the New Construction 42. Will the base change back to Pearl? Because I don't really have a wish to sail from one side of the Pacific to the other to get to my patrol zones :p

Forgot to mention. I'm using TMO 2.5 with no other gameplay changing mods.

Default Terrible T

Getting the wrong sub for a new boat, in particular a Tambor, is a known issue with TMO 2.5, but there is a fix that Aanker worked out in cooperation with Ducimus, here's the link: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=3506

This is a small mod that will fix the incorrect progression for getting a new boat, but it also disables the Terrible T campaign, so if you want to play that, disable the patch.

There is a time warp issue with the Terrible T campaign, somewhere near the end of 1943 or beginning of 1944 you will be sent back to July 1942. I recommend using the patch at all times if you want to play until the end of the war.

Default Balao

Sorry, sort of got centered on the wrong issue with repect to your question. I also have been offered command of a Balao, also too early, in fact during my current career, in late September of '42. Since I was hoping it would be a Gato, I initially accepted. And yes, I ended up at Mare Island to pick the boat up as well. Fortunately I had a saved game made just before docking at Pearl, so I loaded it back up and then declined the offer on the second go-'round. I'm not a modder so I have no clue as to why this occurs. I also started with a Gar, and hoped for an early upgrade to a Gato after my 3rd patrol, but got a refit instead. Then the offer of the Balao came after the 4th patrol, go figure. By the way, important side note: If you have a Tambor/Gar class boat in TMO and get a refit, for some reason the game will move your deck gun from aft to forward. This will make it uncrewable and essentially useless, but you can restore it to the aft deck by enabling the optional "TMO_Aft_deck-guns" mod found in the optional mods folder, which is in the Documentation folder for TMO.

Yeah, I just saw your post about that and replied. It's all a mystery to me. I guess if one really wants a Gato one might try to start out the Pacific campaign in a Porpoise or Tambor and see if it makes a difference. I know for a fact it doesn't happen ALL THE TIME
