Questions about a TMO career

I posted a few days ago about the lack of a deck gun on my new sub, but got no answers. I am wondering if my game might be corrupted. I started a new career in the Phillipines 1942 in an S-class boat. Everything seemed normal, did four patrols and was given the chance to upgrade, I took it, a new Salmon class but I notice it has no deck gun. I figure no big deal, I will do a patrol and it will let me upgrade, no such luck. After two patrols it does let me upgrade to the SJ radar but still no deck guns. After another patrol I am again given the chance to upgrade subs, I take it, a new Tambor class, still no deck gun. So I transfer to Pearl Harbor thinking that in a big port I might be able to upgrade, but still no luck, and also there is no SJ radar available which seems strange, I would think that once an upgrade is available it would always be there until a new model is available. Also i have been sent to the same patrol area north of the Phillipines every single patrol since I started the Campaign. So my questions, is my campaign corrupted somehow? Is it possible to edit the game files to restore the deck gun? Are their any mods that randomize the patrols? I'm running SH4 1.5 with TMO 2.5, RSRDC and OTC mods
