Since I started playing SH4 some years ago, I was always concerned with the number of personnel in the control room when diving. I felt that anytime the boat dived it (the control room) should have more crew, something like the battle stations mode. Two Planes-men, a Crewman manning the Ballast Tanks, a Crewman Manning the Sub pressure and other gauges...ect.
It basically should look like the Battlestations Crew, but they should be there any time the boat submerges. Not so much for the bridge crew. Just the control room. Would this be a difficult change? In short, the mod would increase the control room personnel on all dives. I think there are something like three more crewmen maybe four. What do you think?? PS: This would just make the control room look like the battlestations mode on all dives. Not the bridge, this would be left as is. ie; x-tra crewmen during battlestations only. Thanks D40

From reading countless patrol reports, watching interviews, and reading in general from WW II submariners, I've found that about the only time they dived was to make a trim dive, sometimes after days on the surface, or to make a submerged torpedo attack..... and of course dive for aircraft. Of course at the beginning of the War they ran submerged during daylight hours, surfacing at night, however radar changed that.
I hit battle stations if I want the CR & CT manned, specifically the diving officer, planesmen, hydraulic manifold and trim manifold men, make the trim dive, surface, and secure from BS. According to what I've learned, there are about 13 men in the CR & CT at each station performing the dive. Hitting the BS typically produces close to that number of crew on a fleet-boat. Does that help? Happy Hunting!
