Default A Day Every American Should Celebrate

I don't usually go in for the whole "This day in history" thing, because so many things happened on any given day, but today is special. A lot of things happened on March 4, but I'll only give the ones that are really important to Americans.

Working backwards (and for a good reason)...
On this day in 1933, President Franklin Roosevelt gave his legendary "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself" speech.

1917: Jeanette Rankin of Montana took her seat as the first woman elected to the House of Representatives.

1908: The New York board of education banned the practice of whipping students in school.

1861: The Confederate States of America adopted the "Stars and Bars" flag. I'm not sure if that's something to celebrate, but it is certainly significant in our history.

1789: The first Congress of the United States met in New York and declared the Constitution to be in effect.

1766: The British Parliament repealed the Stamp Act, which had caused bitter and violent opposition in the Colonies

And on March 4, 1634, something happened that every American, and a lot of visitors should know - in Boston, Massachussetts, a man named Samuel Cole opened the first tavern in the American Colonies!

March 4th used to be the day of Presidential Inaugurations too, before it was changed to January 20th.

I'm glad I was born on the day the 1st tavern was opened in the colonies.

I am outraged on the whipping students ban.

Most if not all children need a whipping these days.

Play any MP game, and you will understand.

I love being called the n word by squeaky voiced 13 year olds, when I am pale as snow. Must be fun to use that word online under a fake name. Wouldn't say it otherwise, if thier face was on the line.

I play alot of MP games, and unwillingly get placed with teens who curse, use racial slurs, and outright have zero gamesmanship.

(SC2 is an exception, people seem to know how to behave on Starcraft)

Today marks my 32rd anniversary of entering Basic Training.

Looking back, it only seems like... well 32 years actually.

Given the age of my kids, for me 32 years is literally a lifetime.

Actually, given my own age, 32 years is two lifetimes!

You are only as old as how you feel, I am 10 days from 35 and feel nearly dead.
