SilentHunterIII with GWX 3.0 on W8 Pro

G'day all,

I haven't played SilentHunterIII with GWX 3.0 for a long time when I got my new ASUS G75VX laptop with W8 Pro, I've had my old desktop computer with XP Pro the 12 year old computer is gone and I really enjoy my new ASUS G75VX laptop.

Any way my question is can SilentHunterIII with GWX 3.0 will work on W8 Pro, because my mind tell me no it won't work so this is why I'm asking you guys and I have been on the subsim for nearly 4 years now and how is everybody

Assuming that Win8 will behave like Win7 , just install the game outside the Programs file directory and you will be fine.

It works fine on W8 Pro, just do what VONHARRIS said and install it outside the default programs file so the windows UAC will not mess with it.

He is right....Silent Hunter 3 with SH3comander and GWX 3.0 is running fine on my Windows 8 laptop. I also checked Windows XP Service Pack 3 under the compatibility tab and run it as an administrator. In the last month I have had two CTD's (minor setbacks), but who hasn't had a CTD with SH3

Sorry I didn't get back to you asap and thanks I really love this game SilentHunterIII with GWX 3.0, and I hope they will keep this game alive for as long as possible as I'm concern about the new W9 Blue coming out in 2015.
