Default Transparent Message Bar

Hi everyone, frequent listener - first time caller here.

I've just got my SH3 install modded to my general satisfaction but one thing is bugging me - a completely transparent message bar. Does anyone know how to get the original 'smoked' version back?

I've tried dragging over a bunch of .TGA files from a fresh install but I'm shooting blanks (cough).

Thanks for any advice.

Hello Lixma, can you list the mods you are using? It can be usefull.

I already have this issue with raptor interface I guess, but I am not sure.

A list of installed mods would be helpful.

It's the Real U-Boat Mod 1.45 and on top of that I have Conus' SH3GWXWS 2.3.

Here's what it looks like after RUb 1.45....

And after Conus' MOD....

I'd prefer to keep the dark background (if possible).

I'm pretty sure the change is from the widescreen mod, I remember it from when I started using it and it was one of the things I tinkered with when I was tweaking the mod a bit to meet my own preferences.

I think there was something in one of the big config files (maybe for the menu?) that I had to change to get the smoky background back. Possibly the six digit code that controls the background color used for that part of the screen. I know I had to do a lot of checking back and forth from that mod's files to what I had been using previously, to see what had been changed and figure it out.

I wish I could be more specific but it's been ages since I tinkered with it, and I don't have access to the files at all at the moment... someone else here may know which file I'm talking about and provide the name of it, it's like... menu1024.cfg or something? It's the file that tells the game where every element on the screen goes and what color to make them and fonts for text and stuff like that I think.

I am pretty sure in the data/menu/gui/layout folder, there is a file named bkgr.tga, (it is only a little balck square) which provides the black background. Sorry, that is if you install the GWX3.0 supermod, I am not sure if the file is there in the plain 1.4 or other super mods, but for sure this file gives the black background. So you should see if any other supermod removes this file, and if this is the case, just restore it to the directory mentioned above after enabling your mods.
I hope this helps.
BTW, anybody knows where can I get the RuB1.45 and the Conus mod both mentioned by Lixma? thanks for the tips.

Frau Kaleun, CapZap, thanks for the pointers. I've located the files you each mentioned so I'll give them a prod and a poke and let you know how I get on.

Also CapZap....Conus' mod I found here....

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=170191

And the RUb-1.45 mod; I've had it for years so I've uploaded it here....

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?75cvz6jgnc1cj44

I hope the developers don't mind me hosting it....I don't think it's easy to find these days as it's long been superseded by the NYGM Tonnage War series. I like it because it's not too heavy on my weedy laptop.

Lixma: Just tried to d/l the RuB 1.45 mod from the link you provided, but I get a msg that says: "access denied" and also mentions something about Kalus Doldinger.....
Could you please check the link or give me an alternate link?
Thanks again and sorry for the trouble.

Hi, CapZap,

Yeah, I see this message when I click on 'share'...

...so I've taken the file down. Better safe than sorry.

Mercifully there's a link to it from here....

Just for information purposes, RuB 1.45 is the predecessor of the NYGM mod.
