Default Deck gun vs deck gun...

Well I stumbled upon these guys close to my new "run your a.. off - they are coming, and they are serious - base" at Java, they were on surface just cruising... I was empty of torpedoes so I decided to hit them with my deck gun... At first I was thinking they were one of my own... when my watchman casually reported " submarine spotted" (due to proximity of my own base)... but I decided to crash dive just in case - and I was right! Their course was constant so I ordered flank speed and new course approximately "T" one to theirs... waited a few minutes... to lower the distance... then blow ballast and pour them with rapid fire (rapid as much as possible)... they were no match... just one scratch 6 points on the hull damage...
Them?... Well take a look...

Interesting. Has anyone else faced similar enemies?
