1) are you patched to version 1.2?
2) are you using Steam or DVD version?
3) what high def mod are you talking about exactly?
4) are you folders in the mod positioned \MODS\ModName\data\... or somehow else? If else - it's most likely the folder with the actual mod is deeper. If there is a documentation - read it.

Ok. I can see why there is a problem.

As a side note, I would strongly recommend watching/reading through http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=180046 this thread, which will explain to detail on how to install and enable mods.

As a short version I can say that

is not exactly the correct path for the mods to work properly.

Before you enable the mod, you want to make sure that your MODS folder is located in the root of the Silent Hunter 5 directory - on the same level as the 'data' folder.
Inside the MODS folder, you want to make sure that all the mods folder structure goes as ...\name-of-the-mod\data\

After that you can enable the mod and it should work properly.

On the last note, you said that you are using version 1.0, but I found (sorry, using completely different UI, so kind of forgot about reaper7s amazingly looking UI) that there is a slightly newer version:

Cheers.

...and from this other thread you can even get the latest version (V5.02) of reaper7's UI, that incidentally is now known by the name of Ui-Boat
