Default Sea State and firing torpedo's

Am driving a XXIII in 1945. Mission weather is bad. Torpedo's, while correctly aligned with target pass through it (God's eye). What was the maximum sea state (meters per second) that torpedo's could be fired from submerged german submarines. Also, what depth would have to be set? Could 2 meter depth be used in order to take into consideration the up and down motion of ships.

Default

Between two and three metres is generally a good rule of thumb.
