Can't end the Deck Gun tutorial

Hi, new and frustrated player here. My mission objectives show both Primary and Secondary Objectives as complete. But I haven't gotten any kind of message about ending the mission. If I try to escape, the dialog choice is to "abandon" mission. And I'm not seeing any buttons like "end mission" or "return to base." Can anyone help? I feel like I'm going nuts here.

WELCOME ABOARD!

Did you go ahead and abandon the mission? What happened after that? Sometimes that's enough. The only way to be sure is to check the mission choice board and see what your current status is for that mission.

The mission continues to say "No exam taken" or something like that. Incidentally, the same thing happens on the torpedo test. I don't know yet about the other tutorials.

Okay, when you select an Academy mission (Navigation, Torpedo etc) you'll be taken to a start screen. In the upper left there are three options: Training, Exam, and View Tutorial. You need to click 'Exam' or the mission will be just training, with no score. That's why it's telling you "No exam taken".
