My neighbor thinks my RV is his to roam about inside of at his will

Bing Dictionary
neigh·bor
[ náyb***601;r ]

  1. somebody living nearby: somebody who lives next door or close to somebody else
  2. something or somebody nearby: a person, place, or thing located next to another or very nearby
  3. fellow human: a fellow human being
I don't know what to do about it ... I need advice. I only have two hundred dollars a month for a budget.

I have a wired vonic 64ir video camera hooked to an old TV set is about all I have for day time use when I am at home to see if anyone is driving up the drive way.

This man lives next door in his 24' trailer surrounded by a self made junk yard. It is perhaps five feet from my blind side on the left and I am on the end unit with lots of trees and space galore, but he keeps doing an end run at night and even in the daytime when I am gone.

Caught him and reported him to the local sheriff who warned him. My trailer park manager has warned him, who by the way is a 92 year old WWII carrier veteran and protects me.

But how do I catch him ... I want to stop him without bullets, which by the way is the only thing missing from my RV. He has stolen small change from my clothes hamper and a box of 44 special bullets and no telling what else.

I don't want to be paranoid and think he is after all of my little secrets on my hard drives, but then again that is all I really own.

I have searched Amazon, Newegg, etc for the perfect way to catch him and this is what I think would work. I can hook my camera to it and sleep with an alarm to catch him at night and add a DVR later.

Vonnic A2400 2.4GHz Wireless A/V/Alarm/ Receiver and Transmitter Kit $159.00 USD

I'd say that you're on the right track. Install the system, record him, and when you catch him take the DVD back to the sheriff's office. In the meantime, and I hate to say it, let's just hope that this guy doesn't turn violent in his intrusions onto your property.

Scary stuff, Geetrue. I'm sorry to hear this.

Put piss and tea (sans milk) in an old whisky bottle and leave it on the table, and hope he takes the bait. Film it if you can.

Aside from that, and the suggestions above, I'm at a loss as what to do but hope you can get it sorted soon.

Yes, RV has lock ... 1981 Diplomat 31'

He broke the lock on the only side door and now it just turns around and around.

Put another gate lock on the door today and will tape the lock.

Just electronics, Xbox 360 and games and laptop and one PC, all still here.

Not sure what else it could be

The reason I ask is that if the RV has a lock and your neighbor is still entering without your permission, then it goes past what is trespassing (which may be a misdemeanor in your state) to Burglery via Breaking and Entering (which is most definitely a felony in any state). The exact wording may differ from state to state, but the felony aspect is the same.

Trespassing - small
Burglary with B/E - big

Why is this important? Well check with a local legal expert of course, but in many states, if there is a reasonable chance that someone is repeatedly committing a felony on your property, the police are supposed to take active efforts to prevent/catch the perp. This duty to act may not be present when the crime is a misdemeanor (trespassing).

In other words, if you suspect someone is trespassing on your property, the police are not going to stake-out your property to catch the perp. However, for a felony, they should.

Depending on your particular state/county, they may lend you the surveillance equipment. Talk to your local DA too. They may be able to help you in this, or advise you to who you can contact.

The key is to make it clear that you are talking about a felony act.

Good luck with it and again, find a local legal expert who can advise you on the proper words for where you live.

What you could do is setup a small ccd camera, hidden, most will transmit for short distances, then have a recorder setup at a good neighbors place, if that's possible. Now If you have a tough biker friend nearby all you need is a microphone with small transmitter, then on hearing the neighbor break in the biker could then approach the guy!

All of our doors are alarmed at work, and the alarm is the loudest and most annoying alarm I've ever heard.
