Ship Recognition Book and ship data confusion

I am currently using GWX Gold and I'm using the shakedown patrol to warm up my targeting skills. I have enabled God's Eye and auto target updates to compare with my own calculations. So here's what happened:

I spotted a Granville freighter, got AoB near 90* and timed it across the periscope. Time was 22-23 seconds on 4 different timings. The ship recognition book and my calculations gave me a target speed of 6 knots. Thing is, the note book and the TDC showed 8 knots, which would mean the length of the Granville should be some 91 metres, not 78 point something.

I was wondering if this rings a bell to anyone and if it wasn't me who botched it up (which is perfectly possible I did), are there any modded recognition books with the correct data?
