I just restarted the game after 3 years off. I am not disappointed. I have been fighting through some Starforce/Widescreen/Resolution issues, but those are hardware problems, for the most part. I'm currently parked in the southern end of the Hebrides waiting for the war to kick off...

Yes. It is still worth playing.

You can install multiple versions of SH3 and mod each differently, so you could run GWX, NYGM, WAC, and LSH mods. Come back and tell us which you prefer, as each is different and adds something of its own.

No. You will not be disappointed. As long as you don't expect the graphics to be SH5-standard, and realise that some things just cannot be changed.

Absolutely worth playing! I've just returned to GWX3.0 after well over a year hiatus from gaming. I'm amazed at the immersion level (no pun intended) of the game.

I have yet to see a better WWII U-boat simulation. The level of customization is incredible with multitudinous mods to choose from and a veritable wealth of information on this site, not to mention the very friendly and helpful souls willing to assist.

As for which supermod, try both then decide. It's easy enough to do a clean installation.

Best wishes, whatever course you choose.

Definately still worth playing. I may drift away and play other sims/games from time to time, but I usually come back before long for my u-boat fix.

Yes. And WAC and LSH3. They are all better than each other.

Yep!

While I like SH4, SH3 will always be on my computer. I just prefer SH3 over SH4. I play 'em both as the mood suits. And SHCommander is really icing on the cake compared to the lack of something similar in SH4.

As far as super-mods go, I can't really say. I doubt you can go wrong with any of the super-mods.
I've only played GWX. One day I hope to try NYGM and the other super-mods but I have a feeling that day may be a long while coming.

Also, with what hsie and stiebler have done with their patch kit, SH3 has been taken to a whole different level- can you say "Wolfpacks!"?

Ditto. I shyed away from SH4 when it was new, I didn't want the hassle of DRM or whatever protection it shipped with. I haven't even looked at SH5.

But I'm not complaining, after having it for ... 4+ years, I am still finding things to add to the package for a great experience. I just found VonDos's ships and the .mis files to add to GWX 3.0 campaign yesterday. I've got a few more years to go with GWX before I can try LSH and NYGM.

And with the lack of designers building a new sim, or continuing the current franchise from what I hear, there's no hurry.

Default Absolutely!

I'm playing through NYGM, and I just keep coming back to it even though I have GWX. I'm tempted to move the GWX ships, maps, and terrain to NYGM, or just put NYGM over the GWX files to see what I get
The most important part of SH3 to me is that the modding community is still active, still trying new things, and still (definitely) improving the game in all aspects!
I'd advise you to try everything, but the list is growing so quickly that it's impossible to keep up lol.

So try everything and
BE MORE AGGRESSIVE!

edit: Welcome Aboard!!!!!!

The damage model in TGW is built from NYGM and I doubt the two seperate mods are compatible any more. Likewise, TGW states in its manual that its modified NYGM damage model addresses unintended irregularities from the latter.

With MultiSH3.
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=1869

It can be done without it but this way is much easier.
