Default Looking for "German Hits_1940" etc Series

I have just re-launched myself into SH3 following a lengthy absence caused by not having a PC that could be trusted to work.

Having now acquired a new one, I am - even as I type - steering a Type IIA towards the Shetland Islands on the first patrol of a new career.

I am patched up to GWX3 Gold (excellent!) and the wonderful "Das Boot Sound Mod", which I would struggle to live without and about which I have commented about on this forum a while ago.

However, one modification I am desperately missing is a set of gramophone music downloads which gathered together German popular songs from each year of the war (and pre-war too). They were OGG files and were zipped together in packages with names like "German Hits_1937-38", "German Hits_1939" etc. I believe the stretched as far as 1945, and started as early as 1910. Sadly my back-up disks failed to pick up these files before my PC gave out for good.

I look to "immerse" myself in SH3 and, in this particular sim, the sounds are at least as important as the sights. I have looked through the downloads section of this forum, and have found some mods which provide similar music. There is a good one called "German Hits of the 1930s". And Jimbuna has put together a series of OGGVORBIS files which provide a pile contempory music, which contain a fair slice of military music and also a lot of stuff by Charlie and his Orchestra.

All the above is good stuff, and I intend to borrow on them significantly. However, I would love to be able to download and cruise to the pop and tango hits contained in the files I have lost.

I would therefore be most grateful to anyone who could point me in the direction of "German Hits_1940" etc series of downloads, if by chance they are still available somewhere.

Many Thanks

Some more youtube clips of those days popular german music:

Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuß - Marlene
Die fesche Lola - Marlene
Adieu mein kleiner Gardeoffizier - Tauber
La Paloma - Tauber
In einer kleinen Konditorei
Hallelujah 1927
Musik, Musik, Musik
Hallo, kleines Fräulein (von Geczy) 1933
Sag beim Abschied leise Servus
-"-
-"-
Es muß was Wunderbares sein
Wir geh'n so leicht am grossen Glück vorbei
An der schönen blauen Donau (CH)
Heimatland
Heut' ist der schönste Tag in meinem Leben
Sommer, See und Sonnenschein
Wochenend Und Sonnenschein
Flieger grüß mir die Sonne
Ich brech die Herzen der stolzesten Frauen
Das Karussell
Deep Purple
Das kann doch einen Seemann nicht erschüttern
In meiner Badewanne bin ich Kapitän
Ob blond, ob braun, ich liebe alle Frauen
Das Gibt's Nur Einmal
Annemarie, du kleine Annemarie
Haben Sie schon mal im Dunkeln geküsst?
Auf wiedersehen, my dear
Was kann der Sigismund dafür, daß er so schön ist?
Dideldideldum
Irgendwo auf der Welt
-"-
Eine Stunde mit Dir
Schade, dass wir auseinander gehen
Wenn der Wind weht (CH)
Sing mit mir
Bei dir war es immer so schön
Man kann sein Herz nur einmal verschenken
Wir machen Musik
Küss mich! Bitte bitte küss mich
Immer wenn ich glücklich bin

@ Mittelwaechter

Thanks for those Youtube music links.

Quite a few of the songs posted up by Sailor Steve can be found here. Some of the links are really pure audio, but others have an interesting visual track. There is a particularly interesting one for "Musik! Musik! Musik!" (the tune which sounds alarmingly like the theme from "The Muppet Show", for those familiar with the Sailor Steve downloads) which features some excellent quality photographs from pre-war Berlin. I never realised that F W Woolworth operated a branch in 1930s Berlin!

Apart from the atmospheric contribution made to the experience of SH3 by these contemporary tracks, I must confess to a genuine liking for many of them. I have quite a few songs from the 1930s and 40s in my music collection, and I know that if I played SH4 Harry James and Louis Jordan would be a must for cruising the Pacific!

Thanks, Steve, for posting those links. I've been having great fun listening to old German jazz.

What I really enjoy is finding an original version of a song that has been redone in recent years. For example, Schöner Gigolo (1929) was made famous by David Lee Roth back in the 80's. You can hear an American version of Sonny Boy (1929) in the movie "Jacob's Ladder".

Neat stuff - thanks again!
