Default What is it...

There have been times in the past, for fun or frustration that I've used the deckgun on large capital ships, usually to score a hit and put them into zigs to slow them down, but I have emptied all my rounds in those carriers and BB's that are almost sunk, to no avail of course. Having shot at BB's before, the only thing explosion or damage I've seen is if you hit the plane, never have seen any other. Here I'm chasing a large TF...the one that raids the Indian Ocean, I need to slow it down so I start lobbing shells at 15,000 yards, score the needed hit and see a large explosion, look carefully you can see it way in the background. I paused to took a look, the plane looks good and the metal gray piece doesn't match......

so what exploded, what is the piece?

That piece looks vaguely familiar.

It looks like a piece of hull plating.

It probably is, but the ISD suggestion makes for a better dialogue!

Well, I've never seen a sub deckgun blow plating off a BB in years of playing. I've never seen a BB take any damage from a deckgun, cept the plane.

Well that thing sure is not the plane or a piece of it.

Maybe an aircraft hanger?

You are seeing deck plating. Their is a rendering error however. The plate is most likely the flashing white mast light we normally see on the ships but the rendering error made it a deck plate. You hit the mast which in rendering in the game is actually larger than the visual ship itself.

Ever just experimented in running into things? Yeah I'm bored easily sometimes. You never actually hit anything. Before the two ships or object touch it will register as a collision because in games such as this there is a bounding box around every single object rendered. You cant see the bounding box and it is larger than the object itself.

I have noticed many times the rendering error of the white light. The texture they used for it should have had a better alpha around the light ... it looks too square and not as round as it should be.
