Here's a training aid to assist in learning how to find constellations via pointer stars. It should be noted that most of our stars have Arabic names. At one time during human history, the Arabs were the font of all scientific knowledge, that is, before religious fundamentalism stifled all free and critical thinking.
Also I would like to point out the two stars in the handle of the Big Dipper, known as Mizar and Alcor (They're very close together between Alioth and Alkaid). If you look close, you can see a small star on it's upper left. The American Indians would test their children's eye sight by asking them how many stars they could see. If you cannot see the Squaw and her Papoose with the naked eye, you'll need to see an Eye Doctor. Sad to say, some of you may never see the Papoose due to industrial pollution and outdoor city lighting. Enjoy. ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us
