Groton sight seeing- need advice stat

Hey old salts! I'm in Narragansett and will be passing through the Groton area tomorrow morning. Looks like the Sub Force Museum is one place to visit. Any others? Thought of you guys as soon as I realized I was driving through sub territory!

Thanks and happy sailing!

In the opposite direction, maybe 30 minutes from Narragansett is Battleship cove in Fall River.

As much as I love it, Groton is an armpit. Other than the museum and the Nautilus, there just isn't much to see. The base is beautiful away from the piers, but I don't even know if you can drive on the base anymore, after 9/11.

OK, maybe the Coast Guard base and the Eagle.

You can see if Electric Boat does tours. You might catch a glimpse of a Virginia class under construction.

Mystic seaport is MUCH more picturesque.

Who knows, maybe Groton has changed in the 20+ years since I was last there.

Thanks.
I thought about BB cove, but that's in the opposite direction I'm heading today; just not enough time.

Mystic is definitely on my list. I didn't imagine Groton to be too touristy. Yesterday I discovered Gloucester, MA is an armpit too :-)

Just go into any bar in middle of Groton's town square and start yelling cuss words prertaining to the local inhabitats call them whatever you want.

Here's a few suggestions:

Quote:
Hey! You bunch of gay ferries, homosexual buble heads, lets see you guys dance with each other or something, uh, uh, uh.

Come on you bunch of sissies I want take a picture and remember this moment of being in a bar with a bunch of idiots that go down with each other for three months at a time.

What do you guys do down there anyway ... play hide and seek. Ha, ha, ha

Don't forget to run like hell out of there and over the thames river laughing all the way

You will always remember your trip to Groton, Conn that way
