Is there no command for this? In SH3 you could click on the button for nearest visual contact and you would get bearing and range. In this game so far all I've found is follow nearest sound contact, which doesn't give me range.
And is there not a notebook like in SH3 when you're targeting ships with the UZO or Periscopes? |

No on both accounts. SH4 is a different game than SH3 and works differently. It's much more realistic, as you can't ask for exact visual range for anything. Of course you could measure it precisely with the nav map, but you also can elect not to do so and derive the range yourself with the stadimeter.
Call it a realism change that really didn't add any realism.... The American TDC works differently than the U-Boat TDC. The interface is also different, as the devs trashed the hokey notepad thing. Of course if you're used to that you will not like having to adapt to a new way of doing business. But that is why they are called "different games." They are different.

Yeah, I guess I'll get used to it eventually. I should probably do the tutorial missions, hopefully it teaches how to use the stadimeter.
I was perusing(sp?) through the Commands.cfg file and found that it does have a "Report nearest visual contact" command, but I can't remember how to add commands. I know I have to change something at the top of the file, but I don't know what it is. Like I said, I guess I'll just have to get used to it. Does anyone know if there is a setkeys program for SH4? |

![]() I think you can press [Ctrl + V] in RFB and get the bearing for the nearest target. Maybe someone can confirm this. I don't know if this works for any other set-up. |
