Late comer and greeter.

Greetings to this Community! As they wisely say "Better later than never...."

I am trying to "dive" deeper into SH3. Patched all and applied GWX 3.0 Gold. Nothing else.

May have questions as searching old posts is rather difficult, because of so many references and posts. First of my question is regarding Recognition manual: mine seems missing (or be very skimpy on) Merchant Ships . I am on the 1st patrol an just leaving Wilhelmshaven and would like to train recognition and manual targeting. Many merchants passing by but my manual has only warships. To learn , I started watching also SH3 "Lets Play" on YouTube and recall seeing merchants in 1st patrol in the RM.

Another question: any other recommended video tutorials? Thank you!

Open the manual to the front cover. There you can scroll through the ships of various countries. One of the choices is 'Handelschiffe'. Click on that one and you'll see the merchants.

If you're using WE Assist you can just lock the periscope and click on 'Ship' on the clipboard.

I come from flight combat simulations, recently dabbling with old Falcon4.

However, after a long time (purchased SH3 good 5 years ago) I have decided to taste some salty breezes from the conning tower. The way SH3 has developed over those years is mind boggling and now this sim is too good to pass up in this short life of ours.

Do not know how it will pan out, but I have humble hopes to stick long enough to try it well.
