Default This might seem like a strange question"Reports"Identify"

Within the context of this game whats the point of sending status reports and contact reports? What effect to the game does it actually have?

I click it and it reads how many ships i sunk, tonage and position.

Also when targeting a ship is it really needed to identify the vessel?

If so what diffrence will this make?

Basicly what im asking is are these actions just made so you can check you stats or does it have some effect on the game and if so what is that effect?

Regards

Once you've completed your assigned mission, you can send a Status report to get a new one. On the other hand, sending a Contact report may come up with a secondary mission to engage and destroy (unless that's not included in the stock game, it's been ages since I played without mods).

Identifying a vessel is crucial if you're using Manual Targeting in conjunction with the Stadimeter. In order for the Stadimeter to properly calculate your distance to the vessel, you need to know your target's Mast Height, and that can only be done if you have a proper ID.

You may want to go to and read the link below, it's called the SHIV Guide (sort of an SH4 manual put together by other players) it's a good read for people who are new to the game.

http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...The-SHIV-Guide

It has everything from best speed settings to conserve fuel, to refitting and completing missions....and many, many more tips and tid bits of useful information.
