Default Patrol Number

When you guys leave port for a patrol, how long do you normally stay at sea before heading back to your main base ending the patrol? I try to do three or four missions before heading back, rearming and refueling as needed unless I take major damage.

As others have posted, sometimes enroute to your patrol area you come across a convoy and end up expending all your torpedoes or at least most of them. If you can will you refit, complete the mission and RTB or take on a few more missions before docking? Just trying to gage how long others will remain at sea.

I try to complete at least one mission even if I have just a few fish left when I get to the patrol area. Early in the war it's best top complete at least three missions because that seems to helps get upgrades faster.

Most of the time I will call in completed missions and get another assignment,
that seems to be the most realistic way to play. I'll stay out till I've used all my torpedoes or run low on fuel but that very seldom happens. I very seldom rearm, run out of fish RTB.

Only time I used all my torpedoes was when I happened to be near Midway and got an Ultra message about the attack. I caught the carrier force both coming and going. That used all my torpedoes but since I was that close to Midway I rearmed and went on my assigned patrol.
