Default British athletes warned not to shake hands at London Olympics

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/olympi...162411652.html

I wonder if theyll just go to a sort of "What's Up?" head nod/tilt...

Still waiting for them to ask the British athletes not to attend out of fear of insulting other countries.

The Brits are supposed to be the hallmark of refinement, and gentlemanly acts.

For them not to shake hands makes them almost American.

We shake hands, we just spit in our palms first.

Don't cringe Britain, we are your son.

The article indicated that it was the British that were attempting to keep their own athletes healthy, and there was no mention of political correctness or national offense. Have you heard that there was, in fact, a movement to not insult nations by boycotting their own Olympic games? If so, that would be truly extraordinary.

I think his point was, that it could be construed as an insult for political reasons.
And some over aggressive "enemy" could cry boycott out of politics rather than morals. Britain does not want to ruin any incoming money, considering how much they shelled out to bribe the IOC (as we all have to do) to get them.

This hyper hygienic manic state the media has us in will kill us all eventually. This over sanitizing is killing our bodies abilities to build up immunities to small bugs, that allow us to fight off the big ones. Over cleaning has created super bugs. See C-diff and MRSA.

While I was a medic, I rarely if ever got sick, as I was always exposed to bugs. If I was an athlete there, I'd be giving all the athletes hugs as a big F you to this doc.

The British Olympic Association has warned its athletes not to shake hands with other athletes, visitors and dignitaries during the upcoming Summer Olympics due to fears of spreading illnesses. It is feared that sickness could affect the British medal count.
Well. This puts the British wrestling contingent in an awkward spot when they have to compete. I guess they could sport those cheap plastic gloves they use in fast food.

This.

Cleanliness is a good thing but I think we're overdoing it just a little bit these days.
