It's personal preference, but I'd start off staying stock for a little while.
I think Luftwolf would disagree, though.

I was leaning towards getting the hang of stock first after having given a good once over of the manual and viewing the videos tutorials I had a rough idea.
Then I tried a quick mission a Kilo class and my brain started to sizzle so I closed the program and re-read the pertinent sections of the manual and the next time I tired the Kilo I managed to ID a sound contact (I am messing around with the Gulf of Finland quick mission). I can tell already that I am going to really enjoy this sim though if only I had picked it up sooner. |

I also think you should first learn the basics of the sim.
Especially the RA-mod introduces many new concepts, which might overwhelm you if do not know the basics... |

I am going to get the feel for the stock platforms first.I had a little trouble being able to ID contacts playing as the Kilo class I had used the periscope a few times and had ID the contacts with it and not the sound gear.I was baffled at first when trying to ID with the FRAZ until I realized that the known database sound is shown on the section overly and the contact is shown in the center.Once I understood this fact I have a much better understanding.
Update: I seem to be misunderstanding some step because I cant seem ever to use the DEMON station I am marking contacts with little trouble and I think I am correctly assigning the trackers(A and B) it says in the manual that you must first Id the target and I can do that and that you must the the contact must have a tracker assigned in broadband mode and I have been dong this but on the DEMON station most times nothing shows on the track buttons and one time the track name showed but nothing appeared on the water fall under any frequency. ![]() Is this because I need to wait a few minutes to allow data to show up?(does not seem logical) Last edited by Stealhead; 03-04-12 at 09:02 PM. |
