ATI graphic issue: sinking ships

I have an annoying graphic issue I can't seem to solve. Whenever I torpedo a ship and the game decides it is sinking, it immediately changes into a low poly damage model, meaning the outside of the ship becomes transparent and I can see the inside skeleton of the ship.

I have a ATI 6950 w. win 7 64 bit. I have tried different card or game settings, but have been unable to fix it.

My previous cards were a ATI 4890 and before that a 8800GT, both with win XP. I never had an issue with either combination which leads me to believe it is a win 7 64 bit/driver issue.

Does anyone have the same issue and/or a workaround?

thanks in advance.

p.s. - never mind, I see there is already a thread on this.
