Default RSRD : traffic in the solomons

Ahoy,

I am playing SH4 1.5, TMO + RSRD. Patrolling the solomons late 42. Contacts are really scarce. In two patrols have only found 3 military targets (destroyer task forces).
Checked out the sim files in the campaign directory with the mission editor, and on those files there isn't barely any traffic to the solomons.
Are all those sim files used by the game ?

Cheers

Not sure what files you're looking under, but RSRD is packed with traffic in the Solomons late 42. RSRD includes every major engagement and most smaller ones. These are for the Solomon Campaign. Some are hard to locate, but if you use historic factors, it can be done. The battle of Santa Cruz the Japs have a huge TF. If you have RSRD loaded you'll get messages directing you to several of these engagements.

#1 = Battle of Eastern Solomons, August 23-25, 1942
#2 = Battle of Santa Cruz, October 25-27, 1942
#3 = Battle of the Bismarck Sea, March 3-4, 1943
#4 = Battle of Kula Gulf, July 6, 1943
#5 = Battle of Vella Gulf, August 6-7, 1943
#6 = Battle off Horaniu, August 18, 1943
#7 = Battle of Vella Lavella, October 6, 1943
#8 = Battle of Empress Augusta Bay, November 2, 1943
#9 = Carrier Raid on Rabaul, November 5, 1943
#10 = Battle of Cape St. George, November 26, 1943

Also is the Guadalcanal Campaign, during the month of Nov 43 if you hang around Savo you can literally fight TF non stop in Nov. Most of these are large surface engagements so you can watch the US and IJN duke it out and do what you can to help. Savo is fun to watch as is both the 1st and 2nd naval battles of Gaudal, some major surface engagements.

#1 = Battle of Savo Island, August 9, 1942
#2 = Battle of Cape Esperance, October 11, 1942
#3 = First Naval Battle of Guadalcanal, November 13, 1942
#4 = Second Naval Battle of Guadalcanal, November 14, 1942
#5 = Battle of Tassafaronga, November 30, 1942

Add to that several convoys try to deliver to Gaudalcanel and large Jap DD TF make almost nightly run to deliver supplies.

If you use the ME for RSRD campaign files and open the "Battle of Gaudalcanal mis" file, you'll see loads of traffic. WIth the help of US ships and planes and Tulagi to constantly reload, you can rack up the tonnage if you don't get sunk. You'll find many Jap BB's to attack Nov13-16.

I've mixed it up several times with the Tokyo Express. Loads of fun in a S-boat.
