I'm wondering what does this options do? Where would I notice it when active or not?

When you using stadimiter navigator writes in textbox estimated speed, course and AOB. But it's usually soooo incorrect...

That would be because you aren't setting the TDC dials correctly then

If you don't have the AOB dial correct when you have the option enabled and you take a stadimeter reading then yes it will be very incorrect.
