Default MFM mod install question for help ...

I'm tryin' to get the MFM Intrim Beta to work on my computer ...

In the install instructions it states : INSTRUCTIONS:
1.)MAKE A BACKUP OF ENGLISHNAMES.CFG & GERMANNAMES.CFG!!!
2.)Extract to JSGME's MODS folder & enable using JSGME.
3.)Then, open the MFM-IMPORTANT.txt file and copy & paste the unit names in your Englishnames.cfg (or its equivalent Germannames.cfg or whatever). I recommend you paste the names immediately below the last functional unit - in GWX this should be "Schute_M2=Small Coal Tender".

My question for help is ... where do I find this ENGLISHNAMES.CFG and the GERMANNAME.CFG ?

The 2 that I found were in the data/roster folder but they don't seem to be right or are they ?

What would be the correct way to get this mod to work

Danke

The files in question are in the data\Sea folder.

The entries in data\Sea\EnglishNames.cfg are what provide the in-game display names for each type of ship. If you don't add entries there for the MFM ships, they will be IDed simply as "M36B" or "M15A" instead of "CAM-Ship" or "Medium Merchant."

I play with English text and I don't think I've ever added anything to the other files - only EnglishNames.cfg. I think if you add the extra entries to the file for the language you are using for text parts of the game, you should be fine.

Basically what you need to do is make a back up copy of the existing file, and then add the extra entries for MFM ships to the one that's going to be in your game folder. You can do this by making a copy and stashing it in a safe place, and then manually editing the one already in your game folder and saving your changes.

Or you can make a copy of the existing file, add the extra entries, and save that new file to the data\Sea folder of the MFM before enabling it. It will get added into the game along with everything else when you enable the mod. JSGME will make an automatic backup of the original file and restore it if/when you disable the mod in the future.
