Default Ending patrol before finishing mission

I find myself badly damaged (hull integrity 18%), having sunk several ships in the mission area, but the patrol has not been completed. Thusly, I cannot end patrol, but with this hull integrity, it would be suicide to go hunting again. I have only just managed to sneak my way back to a friendly port through a raging storm. Is there anyway to get my sub repaired, or do I just have to undertake this suicidal voyage back to England, and completing the patrol?

Oh, and on a sidenote, how I got damaged:

Many of you fine captains will snort and swear at this recklessness, but heck, I find it fun!

Patrolling in heavy fog on the coast of England, I suddenly found myself in the middle of an escorted convoy. Still in the process of exploring this game, I decided to check out how a surface attack in fog would work out. Ships were only visible at a few hundred meters away. Taking advantage of this, I immediately opened fire at the closest ship, large tanker, sinking it quickly with HE shells. One of the closest escorts then immediately broke formation to intercept me, and opened fire with AA guns. A few lucky HE shells from my side had the destroyer catching fire, and sinking. However, it exploded as I passed only 50 meters away, damaging me severely. Still under fire, I set my course out astern of the convoy, sinking an additional two merchants on my way out, before disappearing in the fog. Got to love fog! Second time this patrol I have carried out successful surface attacks on convoys.

I don't believe you can repair hull damage during a patrol (by choosing refit) but maybe!

The patrol objective, the yellow icon, is optional really. The main mission, the black cross icon, is designed to be active across multiple patrols.

So feel free to return to base at any time if your boat is in danger, even if objectives aren't completed yet.

I was rather hoping that would be the case, but I have passed through three friendly ports now, and neither allows me to end patrol... I feel unloved.

Could always go around! I'm at 48% myself in my current patrol. Snuck down 70m last encounter, so I'm thinking I'm still OK, but there's a definite sense of "get home now!" to the patrol.
