I have been playing the game without problems from 1939 to 1941 with up to and including torpedo splash mod on my list.
I decided to try to load a new career in order to use OHll so I added the mod with others via jsgme shown below. Having done so. I load the game but nothing happens after the loading screen with the red progress bar, ie just a blank screen. Can anyone help? Try - removing these and trying again
OPEN HORIZONS II_full v1.4 OHII v1.4 Patch2 Full OH II Campaign Radio Messages v4 TDW_Mines_Subnets_Detectable_in_hydro (OH II v1.4) If that works ok - put them back and try again. If trying again fails - delete and download fresh copies |

Thanks for your quick reply- it has been working fine this evening without those last 4 so it has to be one of them!
Will do so and report back. ![]() |

It's normal to have a black screen with looping audio for some time after the red bar loading screen. This will usually be followed by the "wait while we synchronize your games" screen, which can take a while too.
Depending on the speed of your PC and connection I wouldn't worry unless those parts are taking more than 3-5 minutes or so. Loading the actual saved game takes a loooong time as well. ![]() |

If you use antilag and have the fps at say 32fps the game will take a whole lot longer to load . Put antilag fps to zero and untick the ingame vertical sink box and see how much faster it loads

I have a very high spec machine, and it has never shown any signs of doing this before.
I waited a considerable time and then hit control alt delete task manager which staes SH5 not responding. I disabled the last 4 mods and it still then did the same thing, so I disabled all mods with jsgme, then re installed all in exactly the same order less the last 4 and it worked fine. I am going to try a fresh download of these files and try again. ![]() |

If SH5 loses focus (usually from alt-tabbing or clicking off the window in Windowed Mode) it'll claim to be Not Responding, but will still be loading in the background.
At least for me it's still working and after the normal time will load. Only time that hasn't happened I also got an actual crash report box. So maybe just give it more time? |

Update
I run the game on 2 different machines, a lap top with Win 7 and high spec where the problem above occurred last night after downloading OHII V1.4. I also use a PC with Vista 64 bit and again very high spec. I added the 4 last downloads with the same list on the PC and it ran! Since both were downloaded separately, ie not copied from one machine to another, I assume the lap top download has some problem with a file somewhere. Question- With the PC game at the start point, I see the OHll v1.4 at the top where you see the missions tree, but it only goes to 1944- is that right? I thought this took us to 1945? Thanks |

Right, a further update.
I re downloaded these last 4 mods and re installed them as on my list above, then started a new campaign. The loading time is ridiculous, ie about 7 to 8 minutes, however I got the screen with the new campaign starting in coastal waters and up to 1944. I then clicked on start game and got the pictures loading screen, however at the end of this after loading for about 2 to 3 minutes, it goes straight back to the launcher and stops working. Any more ideas please? ![]() |

I did this and the fresh downloaded versions were installed. I also found that if I alter the skip tutorial code to true from false, the game wont load as above. If I leave as is and play the tutorial, it works fine for some time, however having sunk the ships in the tutorial, I head for Kiel as asked, and the game ctds every time on the way to Kiel. Any further ideas at all please? |

It starts in 44 and ends on time in 45 ![]() Quote:
What is happening is that when a new career is created - your PC must write some huge files to SH5 docs. These files are very large and contain the whole campaign info with all the info about your sub, what ships will appear in game etc. (this is why campaign re-starts are required when updating info that will effect ships possition, type or campaign objectives) Once this is done - your next save/load will be a lot faster as it only has to write one of these large files ![]() Quote:
load mods - start new career - select skip tutorial ![]() |

Hi Trevally
I presume you mean without the last 4 OHll mods but with the rest as shown above? Trouble is, if I try to resume from the saved game during the tutorial, is just CTDs before starting (with the last 4 removed via jsgme). If I start a new campaign without the 4 mods, it is not OHll so will this still work? ![]() |

As you have been playing the game you do not need to do this. You should be able to just install the four mods and start a new career (skip tutorial). |

Hi Trevally
I am still having trouble. I did the tutorial with the four mods taken off, entered base ok, started a new patrol, saved and exited. Loaded mods then re started the game but it crashed after the loading screen. I then went back and loaded the enter base after tutorial save which was fine. I then started the new patrol (this time with the mods installed) and it ctd at the loading screen! ![]() If I take the OHll mods off and go back to my previous campaign at the save point it all wrks fine as before so it must be something to do with these mods. Not sure what to do now? ![]() |

Im sorry Robby, but I can think of no answer as to why this is happening for you.
All I can suggest is that try the OHII mod on its own and see if it works. It may be that your mod list wont work with OH but I cant see why. Perhaps a full game uninstall reload may fix the issue as a last resort |
