Default D-Day Fleets?

Is the D-Day Invasion fleet in game, and if not, is there a mod for it. I understand if there is one, it wouldn't be the entire fleet (over 7,000), because if ther was, it would kill any computer other than NASA's.

A scaled down (number wise) version of the invasion fleet is included with GWX.

Probably the XXIII is a better tool for that job. I would never bring my XXI in Channel style shallows.

Only downside is the XXIII had just two eels and no reloads.

Against an anywhere near realistic invasion fleet reloading and re-attacking is not going to be an option, though a bit larger salvo would indeed be nice. Interestingly they were planning to cut reloads even from the larger sea going boats; the XXVI was to have ten tubes and no reloads, the XXI-C was supposed to have eighteen tubes and again no spare torpedoes.

But they weren't an option because in reality they never made an appearance....my comment was based on what was actually available and therefore used operationally at the time.

Do you really think you can get into and out of the channel in '44?

In the right weather conditions and some luck,I think it could be done. Strong emphasis on the luck factor

Here is a list of all the u-boats lost in 1944.

Note that all the channel losses came in June, July and August.

Right, weather conditions: D You know that on 6 July 1944, the weather was really bad.

Just checked U-boats lost in 1944: Just one word-demoralizing.

I recently tried it in a Type XXI - I managed to get in the channel no problems but couldn't find any ships! Very disappointing. Then managed to sneak through the eastern end and escape - just being very passive and hugging the French side, I didn't even see any ships.

So much for changing history!

Im pretty sure weather was a minor factor..... The insane amount of ASW assets in the channel then was probably a much larger factor.
