Default Okay, Marvel/Norse Mythology geeks...

So I'm watching "Thor" with the director commentary on, and Ken Branagh (I call him "Ken" cuz we're tight like that ) makes a comment during one scene that piques my curiosity. It's the scene near the beginning where Thor's big day is interrupted by the Frost Giants trying to steal back their thingy what Odin took from them way back when. When they cut to the Hall of Weapons it shows the guards walking down past all the niches where different weapons and artifacts are kept, and Branagh mentions that they had fun by showing three things there that are not named or otherwise referred to in the story but which might be recognized by some sharp-eyed viewers who were adequately familiar with... either the Marvel Universe or the traditional mythic background of the Thor narrative, or both, I can't remember which it was. Anyhoo... I went back and looked at the three items in question and I'm ashamed to say, I got nothin' so I'm wondering if anybody here can identify them.

He also commented on the item in the briefcase that Nick Fury shows to Dr. Selvig in the teaser that plays after the credits, something about it being a callback to something seen in the movie proper that was left behind after all the brouhaha and found by SHIELD. Fury talks about it possibly being a source of "unlimited power." So I'm trying to figure out what it is, but all I can come up with is that it's a still "active" piece of the Destroyer that Thor, er, destroyed on earth after he got his hammer back.

Edit: now that I look at it, that third thing in the HoW looks like maybe Odin tried to get a sooper dooper magical replacement eye made only the contractors got the scale wrong.

Edit: OH WAIT is the thing in the briefcase in the end the insides of the Frost Giant's magic casket thingy? Did it fall to earth when the Bifrost was destroyed? Cuz Loki had it out there when Thor arrived and they fought and stuff. If Loki fell to earth and was stripped of his powers he might need to use someone else to get access to it. But if he's stripped of his powers would he have been able to do the "magic" necessary to get into Selvig's head like that? And appear like that at that end? If he was an ordinary mortal looks like that wouldn't be possible.

Well, I'm gonna be no help at all. I think Marvel makes the better movies, and I know a little, but I live in the DC Universe. If you ever need info in that area, I'm your guy, but I'll just sit back and wait for the answers to this one.

I love Thor the movie. Waaaaaaaaaaay better than Captain America which is kind of mediocre to me.

And since I'm shameless I shall take this opportunity to promote Champions online, a free MMO-Action-RPG set in the superheroes world.

And here is my hero, Judgment

And no I'm no comic book fan nor am I a superheroes fan.

I've been googling a bit and supposedly the "eye" stored there is actually the Warlock's Eye; the Eye of Agamotto is not included in Odin's vault but the item in the first picture above is the Orb of Agamotto.

The item in the second picture is the Tablet of Life & Time.

Also included in Odin's vault and actually created for the movie (but cut from the final release) were the Infinity Gauntlet and Eternal Flame.

Is it this? Makes sense to me. Altho Branagh made it sound more like it was something that was part of the narrative of the Thor movie and not an item that was already on earth a long time ago (WWII/Captain America era). Tricksy hobbit.

Quote:
In the film, the cosmic cube is an object buried in a hidden wall with the tree of life on it in a viking tomb in norway, during WW2 and is retrived by Johan Schmidt. The cosmic cube is also known as the tesseract. The cube was a prized possesion of Odin's until it was lost to earth. The Cosmic Cube, better known as the Tesseract, is one of the most powerful artifacts in the universe. According to Fury, it holds great power. In the comics the cube is not one but many diffrent version of the cube owned by diffrent people. The Cosmic Cubes are items that control matter and energy, answering to the will of the sentient beings that use them. They require practice to be used properly, but a skillful user can alter all reality to answer to its thought, granting anything they desire.

That was my first thought, but no way Dr. Strange would just give it up?

EDIT: ACK!! Evidently, he did just that. He gave it to Doctor Voodoo, the new Sorcerer Supreme for the earth dimension. But then...

Although the group attempt to defeat Agamotto by empowering Wolverine to serve as their 'avatar', Doctor Voodoo is finally forced to sacrifice himself to contain their foe, apparently destroying himself and the Eye at the same time.
Anybody know what happened after that? I'm 20 years out of my collecting phase.

As I. After the clone saga and everything was a clone, a doppelganger and what ever, I saw that marvel was going in a infantil direction with the comics. Also in my universaty town there was t2o comic book shops, so I got a more vast offer and turn to DC vertigo and other comics!
