Default Sonar issues with GWX 3.0 Gold?

Hello,

I just installed SH3 with GWX 3.0 and SH Commander 3.2.
I have only ever played SH3 vanilla in the past so this is all new to me.
I'm loving it so far but I have noticed a couple of strange things:

1.) Why has my sonar range increased by so much? In SH3 vanilla I would only pick up targets that were within maybe 25+ kms of my sub but with GWX I'm now picking up targets at over 100+ kms!?

2.) I have also noticed that my sonar lines are now broken up on the screen. I'm pretty sure this is a graphic glitch but I wanted to check with others first. In SH3 vanilla my sonar lines would be solid black from sub to target but with GWX the line is missing around my sub and then it's broken up along the line, like someone has taken an eraser to the line at set intervals (see screen cap below).

Any ideas?
Thanks!

2) That the lines are 'broken up' isn't a glitch. I'm not completly sure why they are broken up, but I think it's to show distance. I mean like they are broken up for every 10km. Because this has got something with GWX to do you can ask members of the Dev Team, like jimbuna. He might have the answer.

Anyway, welcome to GWX3!

The sonar range is not inreased at all. The stock sound markings give the exact range to the target, letting you measure it precisely, which is something they couldn't do with passive hydrophones. This could not be fixed any other way than to change it to the method you see. This way you now have only the bearing to the target, and not the precise range.

I hope that answers both your questions.

Over 100 km!?! Do you have proof? Images? In my experience contact is lost when outside of 34km and listening yourself.

I think he was just judging by the length of the lines, which is why he questioned it in the first place.

Thanks to everyone for the explanation.
I was convinced that my range had increased to 100+ kms as the lines were 100 kms long when measured on the map.
