I have downloaded SH3 from steam and tried installing the download emea v1.4b patch....it says missionengine.dll unknown version.
I assumed maybe the game was already patched and up to date when I downloaded it. So i tried to install GWX3....it said my game was modded. Why the hell can this not be simpler? Can someone please help me with this? I am using Windows 7 and downloaded the game from Steam. |

I think the problem you have, is related to the fact that 'Steam' will have modded the game coding, so that they can 'Auto Update' your game anytime you are connected to the internet.
There have been big discussions on this over on the Auran 'Trainz' forums, most feel it's an intrusion on their privacy & refuse to purchase anything from 'Steam'. You can pick up 'new & sealed' copies of SH3 (released by 'Focus') very cheaply on 'Amazon', this version has no problems with patching or using the mods. I bought one & run GWX plus other mods from the guys on here. |

There is a browse button that you need to use to point to the directory that Steam places SH3 in. Once you do that GWX will install. |

And if it's from Steam it'll be correctly patched. Well, as patched correctly as Ubi can!
